But Saint Tirunavukkarasar chanted the Panchakshara Mantra (pancha – five, Akshara-letters) Na ma shi va ya which made the hard stone into a floating cork wood that moved southwards. The saint reached the shores through Kedila river.

Lord Shiva with Mother Parvathi on the Vrushaba (the bull vehicle of Lord Shiva) and Lord Muruga on his peacock vehicle graced their darshan to saint Tirunavukkarasar on his reachingm the shores. Based on this event, a temple was erected for Lord Muruga here.
